Work Experience
Almeria Spanish School has the privilege to introduce you to the launch of a brand new work experience program in addition to our portfolio. The work experience programme is a specially designed program aimed at facilitating overseas nationals to find work within Almeria and the surrounding areas. The team is coordinating with employers and agencies to provide paid work experience in many different areas. Placements can be salaried with a minimum salary of the EU and will in the norm be a full time position (daily schedule can vary). Almeria Spanish School is able to provide residential or home stay single room accommodation for applicants if required or hotel residency.
A wide range of placements have been sourced. Applicants can expect to be placed in areas such as cleaning, warehouse work, hospitality and catering, and retail, and horticulture. The placements will be provided on a first come first served basis. Applicants will not commence their placements immediately after arrival into Spain and must expect to allow time for interviews, level tests and duration of specific Spanish classes.
Learners will have the opportunity to acquire the level of Spanish required to successfully complete a period of work experience in Spain. The delivery of the program includes general Spanish classes and specific knowledge in the workings of a Spanish company, day to day routines etc. Depending on your level required language and specific vocabulary.
Some of the positions on offer include: bartender, waiter, kitchen assistant, waiter’s assistant, and beach-bar staff Depending on your past experience you will be placed accordingly in a position that is best thought to suit you. You will have your job confirmed before you depart for the UK. Participants will generally be required to work 8 hours per day with 2 days off during the week. However, some jobs during the high season (July and August) may vary depending on demand and desire to work.
Participants will obtain on average 600 Euros to 1,000 Euros net each month. Depending on the type of job you are given, you may also receive tips or free meals from your company.
Spanish language skills: This is a great opportunity to develop your Spanish and you must ensure you use it at every opportunity as English is especially prominent on the Costa del Sol and you may find yourself speaking in English as it is easier for you. Although an intermediate level of Spanish is normally required, during the summer months, applicants with a basic level will be considered.
Please note that as a work experience participant in Spain you will be expected to be open-minded, positive thinking, enthusiastic and motivated. Participants must have the ability to live independently in a foreign country, must be open to, and show respect for, different cultures to their own, and must be committed to improving your Spanish language skills.
Once participants accept a job, they are bound to the contract for the time agreed. Only certain circumstances will be considered if an applicant wishes to withdraw from the programme before the end of the contract. In cases of participants simply not enjoying the job this will not be a valid reason for leaving.
Location
Work placements are located on the Costa del Almeria, in the city of Almeria. You will experience the true Andulucian lifestyle and you will be encompassed by the sun, sea and sand.
