The School

Introduction
Our school is located in the heart of the historic part of Almería. Our aim is to help our pupils master the Spanish language, culture and traditions. We practise a communicative approach which, coupled with a highly qualified and enthusiastic young teaching staff, enables the achievement of the best results.
Almeria Escuela de Español is the Spanish department of London Thames School of English which has been running since 1978.

It is a respected and well established English School in Almería that decided to start the teaching of Spanish in a separate department in 2004.
Our goal is to provide the same enthusiasm, professionalism, hard work that has made a name of London Thames into Almeria Escuela de Español making sure of the welfare and an enjoyable cultural experience of all our students.

Facilities

* 6 classrooms. All well equipped with audio-visual facilities.

* Student`s room: includes a library, free internet access, study area, snacks and refreshments.

* Workshop room: ceramic, murals and painting activities are held here

Methodology
Our base is COMMUNICATIVE METHODOLOGY. The lessons are interactive. We aim to support our students to achieve the best results, according to level, in the mastering of the basic skills in:

For this, besides the text books, we use real, didactic material such as: newspapers, television, magazines, etc. Transverse topics : family, Spanish culture, sports, tourism etc...

Teachers and Direction
All the teachers of Almeria Escuela de Español are natives of Spain with University studies, reinforced with courses in teaching Spanish as a foreign language, and courses of development of "EL INSTITUTO CERVANTES". Besides their excellent education we have taken into account their enthusiasm, dedication, creativity and charm, characteristics that any teacher of languages must have.

Accreditations and Guarantee
We are members of CECAP (Confederación Española de Centros y Academias Privadas), the Spanish Confederation of Private Schools and Academies. In Almería CECAP is represented by ASEMPAL (Almería Business Association). CECAP guarantees that their members respect the students’ consumer rights in accordance with the Spanish Law and as a result of this we have to follow its ethical code: codigoetico_cecap.pdf
All students will sign a contract once they arrive to the school which will protect their rights as consumers according to European Law. We are also an associate school to the Andalusian government after successfully meeting all the requirements of the Education department from the Andalusian Government.
